When a pair of males are challenging one another it really gets quite entertaining.

What a great capture! Aerial intimidation. I see that the grounded bird is also saying something . . . probably something like "I am from Missouri. Show me!"

Looks like you were on your belly for this one. Excellent angle and action image.

I love this, what a great capture. So glad you had the opportunity to shoot them.

Seems to be a common theme for me tonight, but your wonderful capture makes me regret all the more that I missed the prairie chickens this year. Good timing and a fine image Larry. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks all for you kind comments.

Daniel, I am a bit too old for belly shooting. We arrived well before daybreak and set up blinds. The lke was atop a small rise which made the height about right.

Dena,
It was a lot of fun. We did begin to wonder if they were ever going to leave the lek so we could tear down and leave. I think we were there about five hours

Wayne,
I noticed someone mention on some forum that they were going to find and photograph some prairie chickens in Nebraska. If they have left KS you might make another drive?
