Is "little big" a birder term?

Yes, for a little bird it has a big attitude. It shows well here; look at it eyeing you! I would only which for a view through bigger glass... Sigh... This is really nice under the circumstances. Really nice.

Nice capture Cliff of a belted kingfisher. These little guys are pretty skittish so your luck she stayed around for the snapshot. A little more glass would have been even better but you still captured some of the "attitude" they are famous for. This is a female, the males don't have the dark reddish "belt" across the belly as shown here. Nice job!

I usually have my 2x on when i'm prowling around like this, and when i was viewing this, i kept wondering why i wasnt closer..... and are females bigger than males? Thats why i called it little big.

I've never managed to get a shot of one of these guys so I can appreciate this capture from a birders perspective knowing that they are easy to spook. Photographically though its unfortunate you couldn't get any closer because the guy is so small its easy to get distracted by other things in the photo and he doesn't stand out as the main subject of the photo as much as he should. I am amazed you managed to get this close with a 200mm lens though. Its too bad you didn't have a 600mm lens with a 1.4x converter huh?

Austin, yes, that lens would result in a divorce.....hmmmmm...?

Ha ha...I don't think my girlfriend would be very happy if I spent $7,500 on a lens either unless I was making good money from my photography. I don't know where I'd come up with that kind of money anyway. I'm quite happy with my 100-400 though.
