I've got a 4X5 shot along these lines (but wider) off to the lab. The first time I shot it with the 4X5, I did not give myself enough depth of field and I wanted a bit different framing, so I went back and shot it again.

This was shot on 35mm, E100G, 50/1.4 lens and an 81b filter.

It's an interesting shot, Mel, and I like the aspens against the sandstone background. However, the half a tree on the left edge distracts me.

I thought about cutting it out too, but its branches still intrude all the way into the next tree, and I wasn't sure that I liked that any better.

Cropped.

The cropped version is very nice. Nice texture and subtle color shot, Mel.

The white Aspen bark against the dark red rock really works well, lots of great texture in the scene. The cut off tree in the orginal is a distaction, Steven's cropped version works very nicely though!.

I like this image too - subtle colors and nice lines in the aspen boles. I think the tree on the left is fairly distracting, and I would prefer it cropped with the minor branches coming into the scene. But, we are a bunch of photographers and your average person would neither notice nor care.

I would be very tempted to revisit this scene as the aspen start to leaf out!

I really like the color and textures in this, Mel. I think I would crop the bothersome little tree on the right, too.

Interesting textures and cropped image. I think you could further improve it by brightening the whole image and removing the blue cast.

Really like the sandstone colors which provide a wonderful counterpoint to the stark white of the aspen. Great comp, the cropped version is probably the way to go since you're working with a 4x5 original, you'll still be able to go large if printing it later.

The cropped version works well Mel. I like the blue/red combo - at least that's what I see on my laptop anyway.
