Cliffs Edge - Kittiwake
This photo shows how the kittiwake lives and breeds around our coastline, they nest in large, noisy colonies and make a simple nest where they will lay 2-4 eggs, as you approach you are met with deafing cries of 'Kitt-ee-wayke -Kitt-ee-wake'  this is where there name is derived from, to me they have always been the 'elegant looking' gull, they are beautifull looking  And this was taken at bempton where thousands nest, and i love this bird in landscape shot.

Nice shot Craig ,certainly gives the feeling of height and space .

The composition works well. I would have preferred the background to be a little softer to emphasise the foreground more.

Ian has a point but I still like this a lot. It shows the bird's harsh environment very well.

I would have liked it a bit closer but i also like what you've shown here so a winner either way.

well done

I like it and I think the 50/50 split of background and foreground works well. :toast:

I nicely composed shot without to much clutter.
Perhaps for me I would have blurred the BG a little more to put more emphasis on the subject.

Hello Craig.

This is an excellent shot and the composition very good.

I dont mind the amount of detail in the back ground, but the white areas do distract abit. I think I would just tone down the white areas abit with the burn tool and set it to highlights at 10 %. This should I think then make the main part of the picture a lot stronger and the back ground should not compete so much.
