It's sunny in Pueblo. Here's why.
Caught this on the satellite view taken at 1:15pm today. Having heard how bad the weather is all over the state, and having our heavy rain from this morning become a distant memory, I checked out the view from space. Quite the impressive low pressure! If you want to see it in action, go here. (If you're coming to this late, keep in mind it's live, so it'll be dark at night.)

Its getting sunny on the south end of COS, but snowing like crazy at our place in Rockrimmon. Glad I brought my 4X5 with me to work today. Have a new 300m to try out if the weather does something interesting.

Wow, what a beast! Do we still "need the moisture?"

Yep, this storm is the definition of "upslope." There might be interesting shooting opportunities in the middle of this weekend in some locations.

We're getting good snow in Santa Fe at the moment, and we always need the moisture. These last couple weather systems may well have made the difference between Forest closures and not. Plus, the Yampa season is looking very promising. Bring it on!

You know, as soon as I wrote my note above, I realized that I left my light meter home.

And Dave, WE need the moisture in Colorado Springs. We hardly had any snow all winter. I don't think I shoveled the drive more than 3 times. The snow can continue here as long as it wants (we'll put down seed and fertilizer).

That's pretty wild Todd!! It's snowing hard here with over a foot so far. Hard to imagine that you are enjoying sunshine! We just lost power at home and the power company decided to close today because of the snow.

That's a very impressive storm. It looks like an inland hurricane.
In downtown Denver we're getting a lot of rain with a bit of snow mixed in. No snow on the ground.

OK, as soon as I finished writing that it turned to heavy snow. Looks like fun.

When I left Pueblo this morning, it was raining and things got progressively worse as I got towards Colorado Springs. Snowed pretty hard for most of the morning and into the afternoon, so I canceled my trip...now the sun is out and the 6-8" of snow at my place is already melting.
We do need the moisture and hopefully this will save what was looking like a pretty dismal wildflower season at the lower elevations.

It's been dumping in Ouray all day! :jump:

I love these wrap-around storms... the San Juans get hit from the south, then from the north. The double punch.

Nothin' but wind down on this end. :frown:

too bad it wasnt a bit further south (An Albuquerke Low instead of a 'Raton Low'!) and a couple degrees colder. Nice sotrm though, we definitely needed the moisture. Was just shecking the Snotels and S COlony (in the Sangres) has a nice 7 foot base.
