Would someone from the Springs care to give me an idea of what the weather is like. I've always wanted to shoot GOTG with some snow cover.

Thanks,
Bert

I was out there this afternoon (around 5pm) while there was a break in the weather, and the snow cover was pretty sparse. Lots of grass poking up, and the warmer temps had the snow melting off of the rocks at a pretty quick rate. It started snowing again after that, but by the time I was back anywhere near there, it was too dark to tell.
I'm planning on going out there in the morning and seeing how things shake out.

I work downtown and live a couple miles North of the Garden and we got some good snow later in the evening. The trees a piled up with snow like hoar frost. If it continues to snow tonight, there will be snow in the trees tomorrow. The trick is that it might not clear up by morning so sunrise might not work.

Bob ~ I'll probably see you out there in the morning. Drive Safe!
Mel ~ Thanks for the update.

DEFINITELY worth the drive tomorrow morning! The Garden is never more beautiful than when it has fresh snow.

If you see a TV Camera down there, it's me shooting for some weather segments.

Well seeing I am up all night tonight anyway, I've been driving around and while the snow is good at the GOG Sunrise is going to be pretty dull with heavy overcast. I'm now looking at the Radar here in the KKTV Weather center and it looks like it'll stay that way for the next several hours at least.

I think I'm gonna hold off til Sunday Morning. I'll be here in the KKTV studio Saturday Night till 3am Sunday so if you want I can give you my cell if you want to call me to inquire about the conditions till 3am.

I went out there this morning, and the sky was dull, dull, dull.
Didn't stop me from stomping around out there for a couple of hours taking pictures, however.
I may have a few decent shots, but I think most will end up in the digital equivalent of the circular file. :frown:

With the weather suppose to be partly sunny tomorrow, is there going to be enough snow on the ground, trees and rocks for a good morning shoot? If you think it will be, I am planning on driving down from Centennial to shoot in the morning. If anyone wants to go down with me or met somewhere in the morning, let me know.

James, I would like your phone number and you can email me at vis_01@yahoo.net.

Thanks,

Tim

Bob ~ Couldn't agree more, the skies were very dull. I did take the opportunity scout out different area for another time. I might have gotten a nice shot of my dog Tank with the Kissing Camels in the background.

There isnt going to be good snow in the garden tomorrow morn, its already melted on I-25 per web cams. Still will have good photo ops of PP tho--plenty of snow up there!

Tim,
Stan is right...the snow is melting off pretty quickly. I stuck around long enough and the sun was trying to poke through, but not enough for the clouds to clear off of Pikes Peak.
Bert,
I believe I saw you and your dog. If I'm correct, you were on the trail east of the Kissing Camels. I was up on some fins north and east of the parking lot and then up on Rattlesnake Ridge.
