Great Crested Flycatcher
Image captured as Felsensthal NWR, Union County, AR, April 17, 2009. I tried cleaning this image up using clone stamp and other means, but didn't like the result. This is the un-retouched image. I will work on cleaning up the bg and may post the result later.

I originally thought it was a Western Kingbird, but the gray throat and heavy bill clearly identify it as a GC Flycatcher. This was a first capture for me of this species. I also photographed a Blue Gray Gnat Catcher which I will post shortly.

40D, 700mm, f5.6, 1/2000s, ISO 320, cropped

Here is a cleaned up version from the series; slightly different pose. Personally, I think it loses something without "context" but the acknowledged experts say differently. Comments and critiques always welcome.

Both look good. Catchlight in the eyes really make these guys pop.

Scott - Wayne Rhodus showed me how to selectively edit out undesirable elements. I have revisited the image and done just as you suggested. Thanks to both of you for your suggestions.
