I made a trip back to the Buffalo area today. WOW!! Cloudy, misty, foggy, rainy. All day!! I went back to Shop Creek to try and do a bit better with my focus..better but not perfect still. I also went to the outflow from Pack Rat Falls and shot a bit also. Will post some of that in the near future.
Bob what time where you here? I was here about 1:15. It is kind of weird I went with a guy named Clay Wells and he was also shooting a 40D with the 17-40L.
Matt,
I was there from about 7 am to 9 am with a friend named Tommy Morgan. We then left there and went to the outflow from Pack Rat Falls and shot there a couple of hours. Then down to Russellville to a burger at CJs and home to Jonesboro. I saw no one at Triple Falls except a lonely Order of the Arrow scout there for a work weekend and no one even in the Haw Creek Falls campground.
A coupe of weeks ago on the way out from Triple Falls I met Don Nelms who has a gallery close to Jasper. I have never been in it but his on-line galleries look pretty nice.
I am bummed that I can not get to the spring get-to-together but I am hopeful I will make the fall one this year.
Huge improvement from the first post - sharper and better light. Nice work Bob!

I really like this composition Bob. Good sharpness throughout and the motion blur of the water is very nice. Is it just me or does this have a bit of a yellow cast to it?
I think you are right Wayne...a bit of yellow to it. I struggle in all the areas, especially color cast. I am learning and getting better. I notice that every time out I seem to learn something that helps me the next time. I am so jealous of all you guys getting to go this weekend to this general area. I will be slaving away providing some anesthesia care here in Jonesboro while most others get to enjoy the peak of spring. there may be few clouds this coming weekend though.
Wow this is impressive. Nice light and the sharpness is better. Not only that, the perspective is much more dramatic. It could be a little too warm as Wayne suggests but it has impact.
I have a lot of issues with focusing these types of shots too. You don't want to stop down too far but not enough and sharpness in foreground or background can ruin an image and you don't know until you get home. The problem gets worse with full frame 35mm or medium format.
Sometimes it helps to take the image then take a few more with aperture stopped down a stop each. Doesn't take much time because you are already composed and ready.
Now if I could only remember to do that. Nothing is worse than having a great image ruined by technical problems.
