Not really a photo subject but anyway.
Yesterday I found a mole run in the lawn which suddenly stopped dead.
I presume a mole can't turn around in the tunnel ? - so do they go backwards . It would have been a back track of at least 10 yards.
Any ideas ?

Hi John,
Moles can turnaround in their tunnels, no problem, they can also run backwards just as fast as they go forwards.
Not sure why the run has come to a sudden stop.

Well John having lived with these scandoulous little sods who have turned my lawn into the Somme for a few years now I can say yes they will turn round .A Creosote alternative is an option should you wish to get rid of them and there will be more than one . There is a product i have used which when soaked into toilet paper will disperse then away from the lawn. The scarers and windmills dont work .4 years lays testiment to the fact having to top and redress the lawn every year .I have got a big lawn . Traps are not used here ,and they will find a run away from the house in adjoining fields which doesn't smell .Like you i have seen the 'burrow' appear at a terrific rate of knots across the lawn .Then suddenly stop and the mole apparantly turn around and head back the way it came. As to reversing I cant say ,but like most rodents I assume they can .This year having treated the holes/runs earlier I have stopped them and retained them in the field which is better for my lawn but a hazard for the horses and cattle .I sympathise with you and your lawn .Time for mole hole cam?LOL

Thanks Andy
They must be a lot more supple than I am
I may have disturbed it.
Cheers
John
I saw one swim across a lake last year, not sure why it did it, I did take a couple of pictures, but it was pouring with rain and they arn't very good.

John,
Can't help with the problem but If you catch one on the top, take some pics of it in your pond then bury the little bugger alive
