We had a wonderful workshop this past weekend and caught great waterfalls all over the area, spent a couple hours early this morning just after daybreak shooting a sea of clouds below us from Home Valley Bluff, and last night spent some time doing a lightpainting (sorry, same barn, I know you've seen it before). There were a pair of pretty large storms rolling through during the night, and we had to scramble to get on location and set up to catch a break in the clouds. We were able to get four or five exposures with stars and part of a clear sky, plus an added bonus of the leading edge of the approaching storm that was lit up by, well, I'm not really sure what lit it up - in fact we could just barely see that there were clouds above, really more of "no clouds" up there somewhere. Anyway, those of you who have been with me while doing this probably know the whoops and hollers that went out when this image appeared on LCD screens.
Hey Tim, maybe they were having a prom party somewhere nearby...maybe a bonfire. I was trying to get some shut-eye in my truck last night, and kept waking up to all the cars going by until the wee hours this morning. I think a bunch of them had a cabin rented close to where I was parked. I'll betcha Amber was in one of those cars.

Whatever lit those clouds up helped to give this a unique quality. What a bonus!
It sounds like your workshops are turning in to boot camps Tim. Man, you've got them out there shooting round the clock! I'll bet you don't hear too much complaining when they come home with stuff like this!
Fantastic night image. Congrats on another successful workshop.

Yes, I do remember that moment. Plus, it had to be a little warmer this time.
Beautiful shot, Tim.

Love the image. I may need to take some of your workshops since I know nothing about photographing landscapes or employing special techniques like those that produced this wonderful image.
My only critique is more a matter of a personal taste: I would have preferred the barn and horizon were a bit farther up from the bottom of the image while leaving some space above the tree.
Of course, since I know nothing about shooting landscapes you would probably be wise to disregard any or all of the above.
