Gyrfalcon (C)
I can obtain the odd sharp image now and again. This Gyrfalcon checked out my vehicle and turned out to be a falconers pride and joy.

Canon 1D3 Canon 800mm sunset 1/30sec f/10 ISO 200 800mm tripod 200

Critique, Advice, Comment most welcome.

Thanks for looking.

Hi Barry,

Stunning looking bird. Guess the top of your vehicle was hiding the Jesses !! I hope you took his number and asked if you could do some "proper" portraits?? Falconer's love good images of their birds! To see these birds being flown is something else, pure speed and power.

A nice record shot Barry with good detail in Whites and Blacks.

Regards

Rob

Spectacular birds Barry - I have a Canadian falconer acquaintance who traps one every year at some God forsaken cold hole called Spatts Easy Plateau...brrrr :frown: :frown:

What's the quarry - Sage Grouse by any chance?

Nice image especially given the shutter speed - bet the falconer would like this :wavey:

Andy the quarry were ducks which I was busy trying to photograph. The Gyrfalcon was somewhat better than I in his capture.

This falconer has invited me to accompany him whenever he is out with this bird great flight shot practice me thinks.
