Early Purple Orchid...
40D, 300/4 + 20mm extension, Benbo 1 + BH1, Angle finder + remote.
ISO400, 1/250 @ f6.3.
ACR5 + resize & sharpen CS4.

Hi,

First Orchid of the season for me... Saturday found some in local woodland where they were not really in photogenic positions so Sunday took a trip down to a site where they grow a lot more open, not too many there yet and this was the best of the bunch, very low PoV to hide the leaves which seem to be a favourite of the slugs.

It was supposed to be bright and sunny but instead the morning was dull and windy... (and cold) light is ideal for these but had to use a higher ISO to keep a reasonable shutter speed.

All the best

Phil

You have made it stand out from the background very well - not easy in the conditions you describe.

Nice one Phil, you certainly had kinder light than Saturday (good to bump into you by the way, I actually ended up going to Ranscombe myself after, but didn't get anything I was particularly happy with!) I like the soft light you've captured, and the way it apears to be nestled in the oof areas.
