Siamese Twin
A couple from the Garden yesterday. I was hoping a few more clouds would stick around, oh well. Ive been to the Siamese Twins (rock formation) a couple times before but this was my first time at sunrise, and its a pretty good spot for sunrise. Ill spare you the standard 'window' shot, if youre one of the 3 people who havent seen that view, you can check it out in the ESS gallery. Heres a slightly less common view.

While waiting for sunrise, i took some shots of the crescent moon. (note planet below it) There's always something interesting to check out in GOG.

Very nice Stan I really love the second shot, you did a great job getting the cresent moon bright and also the forground shap. :toast: the first photo is nice, but I really think you have something unique in that second shot. Congrads

I've been a lazy boy lately. I've had the time to get out there and shoot, but some how the slumbering comfort of my Temperpedic Mattress has kept me captive in my off time. Your interpretation of the Siamese Twin here and Todds new shots I saw on Facebook of the Sangres has inspired me to get up and quit being lazy!

Awesome shots!

By the way the Moon Rise Sunday Morning @ 3am was astounding too. It was nearly Blood Red!

Very nice variation on the Siamese twins Stan.

I was up on Mesa shooting the park with my new LF 300mm, then went down to Westcliffe to shoot some windmills against the Sangres. The conditions were awesome Sunday.

I like the 1st one the best, nice subtle warm light on the twins...The moon/planet shot is nice but I think I would have liked to see it framed by the twins instead, although the diagonal created by the opening you used is attractive.
I spent Sunday morning on Hoosier Pass where I found snow blasted trees. I then drove home and spent 3 more hours (3 hours on Saturday as well) shoveling 22" of the white stuff off my decks and driveway. Great upper body and torso exercise! Highly recommended if anybody wants to get some of this body toning the next time it snows like this, come on up!

Hi Stan: I like the different versions...the moon is great! I was also up on Mesa Rd. just after sunrise...I was expecting lots of snow like in the Denver area, but was disappointed. However, Pikes Peak was covered in snow and the colors were very clear and bright, so I got some shots too.

That would be Venus hanging around the moon in that shot. If you're up early on Wednesday morning, you might be able to see the moon actually pass in front of Venus. Sounds pretty cool, if I can actually drag myself out of bed. http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2009/17apr_lyrids.htm

knew it had to be either Venus or Jupiter--thanks for the info, Brent.

Nice images, Stan. They both get a thumbs up!

Nice shots. I like the moon in the second image. The pink on the Peak in the first is very nice as well.

Those are fantastic, Stan. Love the light on the rocks in both, and I really like the 2nd one with the moon.
It's a bit harder for me to get out now that I'm working full time swing shift. (I was working night shift 3 days a week). So my current schedule is better for my pocketbook, but for photography anywhere more than an hour or two away, it's harder to do. At least I have weekends off now, though. I'm going to try and get out this weekend, but haven't figured out where to go yet. Another dilemma. LOL.
Great images stan!

Both nice, Stan. I really find myself drawn to the second shot. It has a good feeling of depth and size and I like the moon in the clouds effect.

The quality of light in #1 is really nice. And the cloud/moon combo in #2 is dreamy.

I like both of these a lot, Stan! I like how you didn't wait for the sun to light the Twins in the first one. The second one looks a bit magenta, but I love the comp and subject.
