For those of you who have sold gear online, is Paypal a good way to go for accepting payment? I buy stuff all the time with Paypal, but have never sold anything. Any negatives I should be aware of?
Thanks,
Paul
Hey Paul, I have used the Paypal invoice option to request payment a few times, everytime the buyer paid using a credit card. I had no problem using Paypal, everything seemed to work very smoothly. Of course you have to pay the Paypal fee if you transfer the money to a Bank etc.
I also hear that Google Checkout is a good option too, though have not had any experience with it.

I've sold a few images using Paypal and had no problems. It's a very smooth transaction in my opinion. Like Nick, I've also used the invoice to request payment and that has worked quite well too, although it's better to get the payment at the time of transaction.

I've used PayPal a lot recently to receive payments for camera equipment I've sold. No problems whatsoever. Its easy and quick. I would recommend, however, that you don't keep much of a balance in your PayPal account--just make regular transfers to your bank account. And use a separate back account for PayPal. These are just suggestions to help protect you.

I've used PayPal for 10+ years now - for both automated online ordering and invoicing clients. It's the way to go, for anything outside of a pricey merchant account. If you start selling for awhile, and then happen to make a huge sale, PP might flag/hold your account for a brief time while they confirm everything. It's the only hassle (although it's nice protection) I've ever encountered.

I also have used paypal for 10+ years. Buying and selling many things. I use it because of their seller & buyer protection. Thankfully I have only had to use it once a long time ago but it is well worth paying them the fee if you have something happen.

I've used PayPal also for a number of years without incident other than what Jesse mentioned. Its been a great tool for selling and buying.

Like the others, I've found PayPal easy to use. Customers seem to like it. The invoicing option is easy. No negatives so far.
