Taken in local parkland last month. Was able to stand right under the tree, the bird didn't seem bothered it was too intent having a meal.

cc would be most welcome and helpful

Nuce "natural" shot Maggie. We,ve all done them on garden setups but its much harder like this. Well done.

Perhaps if you had moved your angle of view Maggie you may have then finished up with a completely different BG. On foot its just a side step in a vehicle its when hell of a problem.
Its easy for me to say as in the heat of the moment sometimes all we want to do is get a shot but it looks as though you could have done it quite easily as you said the bird was busy feeding.

Hi Maggie, I like the idea, but it looks a little unsharp on my screen.
My be you can put the bird more to the left, so the branches are not in the picture (or crop it) and the bird is on the left side.
The combination of the yellow bird with the browns seeds I do like.

Hi Maggie, well done on getting this photo , i would have just placed the bird over to the left giving you more room, but in the heat of the action it's different, i'm learning and i've found this composition/rule of thirds tip has helped my photo's come on, well done though.

Hello Maggie. I think all the nits have been covered, the lack of sharpness looks like blur to me rather than the subject being out of focus. Shutter speed was a bit slow I guess for a 300 mm lens, but this is a nice shot and opportunist shots are always harder than set-ups. Welcome to the forum and look forward to seeing some more.

Thanks everyone for the tips. I will take on board what has been suggested and hopefully the next shot I post will be better. Thanks Eric for the welcome. :wavey:
