This is an image I captured while in Alaska last July. These falls were just gorgeous. And listening to the powerful rushing sound was so relaxing. I wanted to get more of a frontal shot of these falls, but there was a big tree branch obstructing their view. So I had to settle for a sort of side view instead. I could feel the mist coming off of it, and had to keep wiping off my lens, and was praying for a clear shot of them, since I didn't have my tripod. It was cloudy that day, so I didn't have glare from the sun to deal with. I liked how they looked like they were braiding from the top.

I gotta say for hand-held and 1/6 sec this looks pretty good, though I suspect blown up you may notice some motion blur. You can really feel the power of the water, this composition was a nice choice!. If this were my image I may be tempted to add a little more luminance to the greens, but the lighting was perfect for this type of scene!.
When I first looked at the image the greens appeared a little dark. But that was at work on a monitor that is always too dark so I'm glad I didn't comment based on that. It looks perfectly balanced now. And you have some extremely steady hands!
Sweet shot Kelly. I have no idea how you came away with that good of a shot handheld! You may not be able to blow it up a whole lot, but this is a great take away considering the conditions. Well done!
Thanks for the great feedback, everyone! I have a print out of this that looks pretty clear @ 8x12, but haven't checked out how it looks bigger. I have been thinking about having a mount done of this.
