In too deep...
I hadn't been out shooting for a while, but made it out last weekend after the pounding the foothills got... This is up on Squaw Pass near Mt Evans. 3 feet of snow up there at least!

This one is from the Genesee Park area...

A little different shot - Alderfer / Three Sisters Open Space in Evergreen

and another from up on Squaw Pass. This was shot at midday, so I decided to do a little toning... I appreciate all comments and critiques!

I love 1, 3 and 4. In 1, I like the texture and the long shadows. In 3 I like the texture again and number 4 really stands out. The sky really makes this image for me. I also like the way the tall trees contrast with the darker sky...it pulls you into the scene. Great job! What camera and settings did you use?

That first shot is terrific! I really, really like it. The other three just aren't grabbing me as much. Looks like you had some fabulous conditions!

Agree with Jack on these...#s 1, 3, and 4 are great, especially #1 and the processing in #4 is unique (in a good way) as well. Man, that sure looks like a lot of snow. Before the storm that area of the state was below snowpack average. After the storm, can you guess if they were still below? Not at all!

I love what you captured with #1!
The rest aren't grabbing me either, but a capture like the first one would make the effort well worthwhile for me.

The 1st shot is stellar - well seen (scene)!

I love the first and last images. The blues in #1 look a bit odd, too gunmetal gray perhaps. But the concept and comp are amazing.

I love the first image. The shadows are very cool.

I love 1 and 4. I considered getting out that weekend but got lazy, now I really regret it

Very cool, pun intended. I also really like #1. The placement of the shadows and detail in the snow is spectacular.

Thanks all for the comments. I had mixed emotions about this outing when I reviewed my images. The recurring theme of the day was hunting for a place to pull over! None of the pullouts were plowed yet, so sometimes I had to take what I could get. The road was actually blocked just above Echo Mtn resort as they were doing snow removal up higher.

Jack - I shot these with a 5D, #1 was the 70-200 and the rest the 24-70 lens.

Todd - I agree about the blues in the first one. Last night I kept moving the white balance and saturation around, maybe I will go back in and give it a little more blue so it looks a little more natural.

John - I'm so happy with #1, the rest of the trip could have been a total loss and I wouldn't mind!

#1 is outstanding! The rest are good, but that one really stands out.

Love the first one, the depth gives the illusion that you could ski down it.

They are all good, but I really like the 1st one. Looks steep. And I like the shadows.

I like the first and last ones best. I really like the toning in the last shot. It suits the image well.
