I was recently out shooting using the Canon 5d and the Canon TSE-45 tilt-shift lens plus the 1.4x Canon teleconverter. I was surprised to see that the 5d metadata does not seem to include any knowledge of the teleconverter.
I then mounted the 100-400 L on the same teleconverter. Metadata now specifically mentions that the teleconveter is present.
Is it normal that the camera is unaware of the teleconverter with the 45mm tilt-shift lens?
The image that was capturing with this combo is posted in the CANP forum.
Thanks,
Mike.

technically, according to Canon, the TS-E's do not work with the extender 1.4x or 2.0x. I'd say that the camera doesn't have the info in the firmware to see the two together. I've been using the TS-E's with extenders for years and I didn't even notice that the metadata didn't show this combination.
I'm sure the 90mm TSE also misses this info. As to forgetting the shots, why not take an extra shot of the extender before and after using it, and then adding the info to your metadata in your workflow later? You can also do this with close -up lenses, filters etc. as a memory aid. Some cameras let you record voice to a file, an easy alternative if available.

I am sure that without data I will forget whether shots were taken with the T/S or T/S + converter.
Thanks for the tips. Now that film is free, we can waste shots for any small purpose.
