This is shaping up to be a very good year in the DMR, and other washington side areas. The balsamroot and lupine are coinciding perfectly. The lower areas are ready now, and the upper areas will be ready very soon I think. I didn't get to check Rowena, but I suspect that is behind the Washington side as usual.
This is just a quick snap shot I took while leading a gorge workshop earlier today, almost zero processing. The lupine isn't shown in this image, but it is out and in great shape so far. I would say the next week will be the best conditions in the DMR area.

Sweet! I was gonna head up tommorrow with the family to scout out some stuff to shoot during the week. Maybe we'll head to Rowena instead.
Rowena today was blizzardous with howling winds today...and the blooms were OK. Better in previos years for sure. Below in the curves, there were hardly any. I'd say the next 4 days are peak for the blooms that are out... DMR today was nice but I keep waiting for a massive bloom that doesnt come. Not a lot of Lupine around this year...
Klickitat has a week to go before it's peak.
Rick,
Rosalie and I were at Rowena this afternoon. Yes, it was windy but there was alot of stuff blooming all over the place.

Thanks Zack! I will be getting out to DMR this next week too. I was at Rowena yesterday and it was very windy but Jesse and I did come home with some keepers. The balsamroot is in full bloom and lupine about another 4 to 6 days out.

Rowena is good with nice big groups if you know where to look...you have to walk a ways but you can find them.....now the lupine is blooming down below but not up on the plateau.....sunrise tomorrow should be horrible so I hope you all stay home!!!!
Thanks for the update, Zack. I plan to be in the Gorge area Tues, rain or shine...

I was bumping around the hills too Zack. A friend and I met in The Dalles for lunch, and then headed up and hiked the road that runs up to the ridge line and radio towers so we must have missed you. I hope your workshop went well, although that wind was something up on top!
