CSNP Memories
To all who worked on, provided for, and participated in the CSNP gathering thanks for a great weekend. Yes I bailed out early but I wanted to stay. And for those who didn't come, you are missing out. The company is great, the subject interesting and the food is first rate.

While it was before I actually joined up with the group this is one of my most memorable impressions from the gathering. Friday afternoon, on my way to the gathering, I went into Boen Gulf and found this guy. I've been exploring these hills for 24 years now and this is the first rattlesnake I've seen. Technically this photo isn't perfect but to me it's one of my favorites from the gathering. And yes, while I was inside his comfort zone (rattle, rattle) I was well outside his strike zone.

Man, this would be too close for my comfort Bruce! I'm puckering just looking at it now. Glad to hear things were going well at the gathering and that everyone was enjoying themselves. Wish I could have been there but as it turned out it was good I wasn't.

We had a tornado on the ground and headed directly at my house last night when it disapated about 2 miles away. It took out a number of isolated homes and farm sites before it was done. More bad weather predicted for today, tonight and tommorw. :frown:

Wayne I'll take a snake i can see (and duck) over a tornado in the dark anytime. We missed you, have fun in Moab.

Glad y'all are having fun! We need pics posted at the end of the weekend.

And that is close enoguh to the snake for me.

Bruce, I am glad you found that guy instead of me! He looks mad!

Hey Bruce. This shot was impressive the first time you showed it to me. Great work - and better you than me having this encounter. It was great to see you again and share some time shooting.

Bruce, it was good meeting you and spending time together on Saturday. I think when I heard rattle, rattle I would have skedaddle, daddled. So what focal length were you shooting? Anything less than 200 and you get new respect from me

Bruce I'm with Tom on this one. I'm glad you found it instead of me. This might be more of a nightmare than a memory. I'll leave the snake close ups to you.

What a great shot, Bruce! You've got a lot more nerve shooting snakes than I do - glad you spent some time to get such a fantastic image.

I mentioned your sighting to a herpetologist that I work with today, and it seems the timber rattlers are about two weeks late emerging this year. Must be the cold weather we've had this spring...

Good seeing you again!

This is a rare capture. Rare and frightening! It was nice to meet you this weekend and I look forward to seeing some more of your images from the gathering.
