Following my recent trip to the Canyonlands of AZ and UT, here is an early April afternoon view through Mesa Arch in Canyonlands NP. Shortly after taking this my D300 and 18-200 VR lens fell out of the rental car back at the Best Western in Moab, so it has a particular significance to me. Fortunately both camera and lens continued to work for the rest of the trip but cost me $500 in repairs once back in the UK - ouch! Shot was taken with the above h/held - 50mm, 1/200s and f/10 w/polarizer - just wish I'd made more of the dof. All comments welcome. Cliff

I really like your take on this. Might've been nice to have had just a little hint of light bouncing onto the underside of the arch, but hey, we take what Ma Nature gives us. Sorry to hear about the camera.

Not the "usual" shot of Mesa Arch...but that's not a bad thing at all. Very nice photo.
Glad your photo gear was repairable.
I agree with Bob, that this is certainly a unique take on Mesa Arch, and it works well!. Sorry about the camera gear, at least you were still able to use it for the remainder of the trip!!.

Cliff...great shot!! Thank you for taking a different shot of this place!!! Unique vision really comes to play here...the arch on the top acts as if a good border. Sorry about the lens Cliff...regards, Rajeev

Hi guys, Thanks for your comments and sympathy over the camera damage - all's well that end well! Still working away processing my photos from the trip - more to come from Arches, GC and MV in due course. Cliff

Nice sharpness and contrast. Have you considered cropping this to completely eliminate the arch? That would be a nice image too.
