I am planning on going to Fish Creek Falls near Steamboat Springs in a month, I have never been there before, I am curious if it is a photogenic place and any tips about photographing it, I will be spending the night in Steamboat so I will have plenty of time

You can either take the short trail to the overlook or take the one to the base of the falls, and do both in the same trip. It's a very accessible place. Probably still be snow up there in a month. I don't know if there are seasonal (winter) closures, but it wouldn't hurt to check first, although it's not very far out of the way of just about anywhere in Steamboat.

Fish Creek will be at full tilt then and the trees around the bottom of the falls should be leafed out by then. The falls faces West/SW so they're in the shade early in the morning, sun should backlight/sidelight the falls about 10am at that time of year. The parking lot is open, costs $5, or its free if you have a NPS pass. Both views Todd talks about are worth checking out and it's only a short hike to either.

Take the trail that heads to the right away from the main falls, follow it up the mountain, it is a hike so take your water, upper fishcreek falls is very nice plus I think there are more photo ops up top. I am at work so I can't post anything, I will when I get home. It is a great area for intimates IMHO. I have 2 images from there hanging on walls in my house.

I go to Steamboat Springs every year during the first two weeks of July for fly fishing and photography (while my wife quilts). There is a series of books called "Hiking The Boat" that contains valuable maps and trail descriptions. You will proably encounter too much snow to reach upper Fish Creek Falls, but definitely try both the upper and lower viewpoints at Lower Fish Creek Falls. See "Waters of Mystery" in my portfolio.
