hi john, yes this is the last stop of perch before it dives into the nest. these birds are bringing a variety of moths and caterpillars back for the young, would like to know if anyone could give a positive id on the caterpillar in my last post

Lovely capture Lea, the moth is an added bonus.

This is a real beauty Lea, comp wise I'd like a little off the top and a little more at the bottom moving the Stonechat higher in the image, a fine capture.

Excellent shot Lea - those supposedly scary eye spots don't appear to work very well with stonechats!
I have had a look at your last post and, though no expert on leps, it could perhaps be the caterpillar of the Waved Black Moth (Parascotia fulginari). It apears to be restricted to the Home Counties - Surrey heaths, etc. They feed on fungi and like brackets, such as birch polypore. It's not one that have up here in Scotland, so I am just going by photo guides - which is never that reliable!

Fabulous shot, I always think the male is the harder of the two to get right and this is splendid. The bonus of the moth makes it a really special composition.

That a beautiful image of the Stonechat and the moth really adds to the image.
