Excellent Gathering. First macro attempt
I had a great time meeting everyone at the gathering. Thanks again to Rod (and Sid) for sharing their beautiful cabin with us.

I purchased a 100mm macro lens about 2 weeks ago and used it for the first time at the gathering. I haven't done macro work before, so comments and suggestions are welcome. Dang wind all weekend really tried my patience.

I believe that this is a dwarf crested iris.

40D, 100mm, f/13 @ 1/13 second.

It looks like you will be using the new lens a lot more. This picture makes me wish I had stopped and paid more attention to the groups of iris.

It was great to meet you and look forward to the next meet.

Brian, excellent work with that new macro. It looks like you got the depth of field just right!

Brian,
Looks like you don't need much help with this lense. Great shot.

Nice shot for a first attempt - or any attempt for that matter. It was great to meet you and I appreciate the rides to and from the locations.

A beautiful closeup shot Bryan. The light, sharpness and dof are wonderful. It looks like you and the 100 macro are going to get along just fine. Glad to hear you enjoyed the weekend. Thanks for your participation.

Great shot Bryan, I didn't really shoot any iris either. You are making me wish I had.

It is a shame we are getting all this rain right after the gathering. The falls should be flowing most of the week and maybe into the weekend. Bryan are you sure you can't make another trip up this weekend? I am planning on hitting Richland Tuesday morning (in the rain Merle, 14 miles both ways)

Bryan, I believe I left my pretty polka dotted umbrella in your truck. Tell your daughter she can have it, I doubt you or your son want to be caught with that pretty thing.

Great meeting you too, Bryan! What a beautiful crested iris specimen - the sharpness is really good throughout the frame. And the color is just beautiful...

Great shot Bryan! Like everyone else, I wish I would have shot those too... It was nice to meet you and thanks for being a drive. I look forward to seeing you again in the fall or next year.

Thanks everyone for the kind and encouraging words. I wasn't sure I would like macro work, but it's definitely something I'll be doing more of.

Matthew - Wish I could come up again this weekend. I really need to open a satellite office up there somewhere. I didn't find your umbrella, so it may still be at Rod's cabin. Too bad; based on the description, I was looking forward to kidding you about it.
