For those of you following my recent travels across the Canyonlands of AZ and UT (and anyone else for that matter!) I thought you might like to see this image taken at GC. This was a late afternoon shot of clouds, sun and shadow. Always difficult to cope with these extremes of lighting but I think this worked - what do you guys think? (Nikon D300 with 18-200 VR lens & polarizer - 18mm, 1/100s @ f/11 -0.3EV).
Looks good to me, Cliff. I think i might like it even more as a pano, cropping a bit of the top and bottom.

I like this, too, Cliff! I'm headed there in a few weeks myself...your nice shot is making it harder to wait!
I agree with Stan, though. Maybe a crop off the bottom would be nice...the horizon line right in the middle of the frame is throwing me off a bit. I think it might be nicer with a change the proportions a bit with more emphasis on the clouds. Just my two cents.

Nice light. I'm with Stan on a possible crop.

There I am trying to bring out the details in the shadows and ignoring the horizon and you come up with much better solutions. Does the repost work better for you? Cliff
If it we me I think I would crop less from the sky, the clouds are pretty cool and merit being a part of the image. Looks like your re-post lost some contrast too, I would tweak it a bit using curves.

I think the crop off the bottoms works, but like Nick I'd like to see you keep the clouds.

OK, you're right of course - the clouds have it and I have boosted the contrast as well. I think it is time to put this one to bed - thanks for all your comments and advice, greatly appreciated. Cliff
