Out of the Sun
Hi all,

Not sure how many this will appeal to but it's a shot that I've had in mind for a while now so I'm glad to finally get it. The main obstacle was that I didn't want to fry my retina looking up at the overhead sun through a telephoto lens, but I've finally found a use for live view on my 40d! I manually focussed and tracked the gull (herring I think...) on the lcd, firing a burst when the sun entered the image. The majority of them were ruined by flare, but this one turned out alright.

techs: 137mm, 1/8000s, f16, iso 200. Live view.

Comments welcome!

Nice to see people attempting something different and a good use of live view. It appeals (to me).
Cheers,
Chris

Floats my boat too. Love the nacreous effect on the clouds - really adds to the magic, as does the diffuse edge of the wing. Well done!

Well that's different. Some interesting colours in the sky there. Works for me.
