As is the way when working from a hide sods law dictates that something will happen on the opposite side of the one that your working from.In this instance a grey heron flew into the right of my hide and started to hunt,I continued to look through the front of my hide when all of a sudden I heard a scream coming from the heron side,I looked through the side opening and there stood the heron with a large bank vole hanging from its mouth, the vole was screaming and its legs were thrashing about, incredible, the heron then dunked the vole into the water drowned it tossed it into the air and swallowed it,you had to be there!!!!!!
Anyway it then decided to walk around to my side of the hide, far too close for anything but head shots at best and and at times I could have reached out and touched it but saw this and liked it!
Great story Craig, pity the vole capture shot wasn't obtainable!
I like your creative approach with this shot - very abstract. Losing a subject's head rarely works but I think you have got away with it here. I'd be tempted to futher remove some of the out-of-focus feathers at the top. The water effect is particularly pleasing.
Cheers,
Chris

Very different & certainly an artistic approach. I really do like the details in the feathers.
Bad points, Just told my girlfriend that I am looking at a birds backside on the internet & shes gone home with the huff on....
