Male Bluethroat Singing
I saw my first Male Bluethroat on the Isle of May getting on twenty years ago and ever since I have always wanted pictures of one. I had a good go in Norway a couple of years ago but didn't get anything, so cue Holland and I finally got him. Thanks Ed I owe you one.

It was worth the wait, Danny. Fully up to your usual high standard.

Nice one Danny... must try to get over there sometime....

Only thing I would possibly do is to tone the perch down a little just so that it draws the eye a little less....

Just noticed ... this is the second image that is not wide open

All the best & speak soon

Hi Danny
Usual high standard technically and nice behaviour. I find the perch a little overpowering in terms of size and brightness though. Nonetheless, I expect to see it on the cover of a mag at some point.

Cheers,
Chris

Fantastic shot again. Both the bird and the perch are great. If anything I would lose a little of the perch from the bottom - I prefer the overall balance that way.

I like it Danny, but I also feel the perch competes with the bird for ones eye a bit more than would be ideal.

That's a shame, I was hoping that you were going to say, this was a recent migrant on your local patch, because I'm in the middle of packing my bags for a weeks visit down your way, little sis wants to go blue bell hunting at outwoods and I want to do some orchids round ruddington and maybe some grass snakes if I can find them in the area.

Any way it's a wonderful image as usual, and worth the wait I think, you must be chuffed to bits with it, I know I would be.

Absolute rubbish !

Oh OK then... Superb. Benchmark, Top drawer. . or pick your own superlative for an excellent photograph. You are an inspiration. Thanks for sharing images such as this.

Cheers

Cheers everyone for your nice comments, it was a long time coming getting an image of this beautiful bird. Some people have mentioned the perch being over powering but this is his favourite song perch and not a perch I have put up for him via a setup so I didn't have any choice and I don't think he would have been best pleased had I chopped it down

Simplicity Danny, that is what makes it for me. But how difficult is it to do?

Steve

Hello Steve

I have tried lots of times over the years but have always failed so to me it has been very difficult but I guess to others it can be easy but thats like many species I supose. The males are beautiful songsters and I think in the next few year they will breed regularly in the south of the UK which would be fantastic!!!
