It hasn't got a lot to do with nature photography, but the work of Robert Capa, Gerda Taro and David Seymour as war correspondents during the Spanish Civil War was seminal to all photography. And can still teach us a lot. I found this New York Times article and the accompanying slide show pretty amazing...
Some amazing stuff, Jim. Thank you for sharing the link.
The owner of the place where I have my transparencies processed at here in So Cal recently had a person drop off some unprocessed Kodak B&W film that was Medium Format from 1955. The person who dropped the film off said it was his father's who had passed away awhile back and the film was still in the original 1955 containers rolled up and light tight apparently. I was astonished by the quality of the prints made off that old stuff after all these years of just sitting in a drawer someplace.
Thanks for sharing the pointer, Jim. Such incredibly powerful photos--doesn't matter whether it's "Nature" or not; principles (lighting, composition, subject ...) are the same IMVHO.
