I captured these on two very different days. With the Western Meadowlark, it was a sunny morning and with the mountain bluebird, I had overcast skies. I do like the look the Meadowlark is giving the twig....like he is sizing it up and trying to figure out if it will support his weight.
I really like the first image, beautiful light and details in the feathers!. The Bluebird is nice too, but those fg oof twigs are a bit of a distraction. What lens/focal length did you use to shoot these with?.
Thanks Nick....the oof branches is what has kept me from posting this image. Maybe I should try to clone them out. I used a 300mm f/4L with a 1.4 tc on a 50D. Both are cropped. Forst one is about 70% of original, second is about 50%
These are nice shots of the birds, but the first one just seems too much like on-camera flash was used to take the image. The shadows just don't work well in this image. The second I really like, great little bird; just need to clone out the branches to make the final touches on this one.
Nice bird shots. I went out to Barr Lake last Sat to try and practice shooting some birds (with my camera ). They say there's over 300 species of birds out there, and all I got a shot of was a Robin lol. Oh well. That's why we practice right. I love the 1st image, the detail in its feathers. It does look like he is sizing up that twig. I like the 2nd one, too. I would try and clone out the fg twigs. But I like the color of its feathers.
Excellent shots, Kurt. Too bad about the oof stuff in the second one, but that bird is still beautiful. The first one is quite humorous, as well as excellent.
