New Life
I took a days leave today to extend my bank holiday weekend

I have been following a pair of treecreepers for quite sometime now from a distance. Returned there today and was well rewarded. The mother was in and out of the nest constantly with beakfuls of bugs, and eventually these two popped their little heads up from behind the bark, and I eventually witnessed six youngsters fledge the nest! A wonderful experience that I shall never forget....

Not the best of images because of the harsh light on the bark, and shadows cast by unwanted branches, but at least I have a record of an extremely memorable day, and felt it was worth sharing.

Canon 40D,300mm f4 + 1.4, ISO 400 f/14,1/500th sec, -1/3

Cropped on rhs, cloned out two small nail holes in the tree, levels etc CS4.

All the best,

Fran

Hi Fran,

I am glad you were able to witness that experience. They look good and healthy.

Cheers

Cool experience!

Try using highlight reduction at 50% - reducing the highlight contrast improves the image no end

very impressive capture and great story behind it too. All too often these intimate moments are to be treasured .Glad you shared it.
As for your contrast prob try duplicate layer >Control. alt. shift and tild(~) altogether let go> control j to copy and paste the layer > blend mode change to multiply. It wont help with the shadows but will put back a bit of depth. :toast:

Nice story. I like the shot. The shadows do not bother me much. There are part of the picture imo.
