Dear Sir

I have been in touch with John, the ringer in charge of ringing this Barn Owl and advised that he makes an attempt to catch the adult at the nest box and examine the ring closely and remove/adjust accordingly.

Thanks again for your concerns regarding this matter.
Best Wishes
Jez

For anybody interested this was the outcome of further contact with the BTO re ringers reply on the subject posted earlier.

Hi Major,

Pretty much what I suggested then !! Hopefully she will be caught sooner rather than later.

Thanks for posting the response

Well done Major.

John,

I'm sure that the BTO could provide evidence that ringing of Barn Owls over the last 25yrs has helped with our understanding of the species and ultimately contributed to the increase in numbers.
