Bark detail
Paperbark Maple (Acer griseum); Washington Park Arboretum, Seattle

Gotta be my favorite tree in the Arboretum, a plethora of photo ops in its bark

Yeah! you got in nice and close. Our two posts on these trees are so different, it's fun to see.

(Edit: fyi, in Macro/Close-up gallery, if you're interested... Or, if it's okay with Mark, I'll post it here for everyone for the comparison...)

Very visually stimulating. I like the crack patterns down the middle. The color palette, textures and shapes are fun to explore. I could see a themed series of images all from the same tree. Nice use of the word "plethora".

it's fascinating what we miss when we don't stop and look close. I like the color variations here.

I like it, especially if you crop some off the right side...just past the smaller red dot in the ulh corner...

Really cool how it flows from left to right Mark, almost like a triptych.

Thanks, Mark. Here's my image of the Paper Bark Maple from the Macro/Close-Up gallery to compare with yours. As I said, very different take on the same tree. Gotta love that about photography!
