Dynamic Weekend!
I had about 1,000 pounds of books to deliver on Friday in Denver and Estes, so afterwards I stayed overnight near Rocky and shot that evening and the next morning in the park. This first one is from Rainbow Curve, which they opened the road to just that day. I'm surprised they didn't close it again, with all the snow that was falling.

Here's one from Many Parks Curve just after what would've been sunset, had there been a sun to set.

The next morning there were many layers of clouds rolling through Beaver Meadows. This is a manual 3-shot blend, with one shot for the bottom third, another for the middle ground, and another for the distant mountains and sky.

Deer Mountain in Horseshoe Park was looking mighty fine as well, when you could see it.

But sometimes you couldn't see it quite as well, which was still cool. (Pardon the noise issues on this one. I really need Neat Image or Noise Ninja!)

Here's one looking at some peak or another on the south edge of Moraine Park. I probably would never take notice of these peaks if the clouds hadn't accentuated their rugged beauty.

Finally, here's a little melt pool near Lily Lake. I cloned out a little sign. Sue me.

I have too many to post, but this is a fair representation of my weekend. Wish I'd gotten out this morning.

Anybody else get anything this weekend?

Holy cow! What a day of shooting for you. Any one of those could be the quintessential atmospheric Caudle shot, but 2 and 3    are amazing!

WOW!! That's a awesome representation of a fantastic weekend. I'm jealous! I love love #3.

#3 rocks, great job with the manual blending too!. The whole series of images are pretty amazing, what great atmospheric conditions up in the park this weekend!.

Wow, I run away to the desert and you come to my backyard and have a hayday! I'll think twice about going anywhere from now on. What great conditions and good use of it. I especially like the one from Upper Beaver Meadow.

#3 is also my favorite. Great depth and comp.
Thanks for posting all these.

The Many Parks Curve and Beaver Meadows shots kick ass! Can't say I ever would have guessed the one is a blend.

Wow, #3 is spectacular and the others are not far behind, and you say you have more?

I never left town but did get an ok shot of the Peak with clouds Sat morning when it appeared for about 20 minutes after which the clouds moved in.

A lot of you are tending to favor #3, so I posted it on ESS along with a 1200-pixel version. Enjoy! And thanks for all your comments. It feels good to be out shooting again!

Wow - great shooting, Todd! :toast:

I agree the Beaver Meadows shot is my favorite, also.

Great series, Todd! I've been kicking myself that I have had to work and couldn't take advantage of the great weather around Pikes Peak. I imagined stuff like this but RMNP is a better subject. Thanks for the inspiration!

Todd, 3rd and 4th are killers!! Great stuff...!! :toast:

Todd, great set of images. I particularly like # 2,3 & 4, and rate 3 the winner like several others! Thanks for sharing these :toast: Cliff

A fine series and, like the rest, I enjoy the depth and environment that #3 has to offer.
You did a superb job of postprocessing there!

This makes me wish I'd gotten out of bed Saturday morning. Another vote for #3!

Gee, it's too bad you don't take full, freakin advantage of your glorious backyard.

Beautiful work, Todd.

Wow, I love #3

Days like this are very few and far in between! You definitively made the most of it and of course you still own the clouds!

Congratulations on hitting the inversion lottery! Great work Todd. 2 and 3 are magical.

Nice shots! I love those low clouds.

Hey, thanks to your magic with fog i resisted the urge to sleep in yesterday and walked away with a few of my own. These are real nice, Todd!

Nice set Todd. #2 reminds me of my childhood B horror movie watching days. "The crawling eye" was about killer octopuses (octopi???) with cycloptic eyeballs slithering out of fog attacking people in the mountains. Thanks for the memories

I meant to comment earlier, but there are a bunch of nice shots here. #3 and #6 stand out to me.

I think you would have done well in Colorado Springs or Westcliffe too. It seemed that there were some times when you could get above or at least between cloud layers on Saturday. I think Sunday you could have gotten above the clouds at sunrise on Rampart Range road too. I was stuck at home catching up on the maintenance.

Wow, great series! I really like the Many Parks Curve & Beaver Meadows shots. But I also like the reflections in # 4 & 7. Very nice.
