For May 2009 we have another compositional theme: "Framed"

Enjoy!

Well I don't know what says framed more then this shot I took in the Hills around Canyonlands National Park. Try to figure out what it is. Vinyetting was on purpose.
I know there will be way more talent then mine, but here it goes and good luck to all the others who post. :wavey: Photo in the link: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3600/3500402357_8a350c04ba_o.jpg

I'm lovin' that saguaro shot Laurent. wonderful golden light. Was that taken in the national park?

Here's my contribution from a certain familiar spot in the San Juans.

Oh man, this is a great thread already! Some seriously good and unique stuff! Joshua, easily one of the best renditions of that spot I've seen!

Here's one from me, a spot called St. Alban's Chapel, near Brooklyn Lake and Snowy Range Pass, Wyoming.

Not in the RMNP kingdom, but a nice area none the less. The Arch in the Alabama Hills, California.
Posted by Todd Caudle on May 6, 2009 at 12:06 PM
Jeff, I've seen tons of pics of that Alabama Hills arch, but NEVER one like this. Awesome shot!

John, aweseme shot from the canyon, I love the color and the way you used the hole in the rock and the trees to lead my eyes all the way into the photo. :toast:

Here's one from Bandelier several years ago. I was using an Olympus P&S at the time. I guess I need to go back there with better equipment some day.
Posted by Laurent Baig on May 7, 2009 at 12:45 PM
Joshua, yeah, that saguaro is in the west section of the park, right around the signal hill area.

Not a nature photograph, but...framed

I have something to post, but it's not a landscape image. Well, it is, sort of lol. Is that ok?
Posted by John Mumaw on May 8, 2009 at 11:19 AM
Well, Laurent just got away with it, so why not?
Posted by Laurent Baig on May 8, 2009 at 1:49 PM
Hey there's "landscaping" in there. That doesn't count as "landscape"

Trapped in Lower Antelope

Coming back from the GC last month, I couldn't bring myself to deal with the hordes in Upper Antelope, but Lower Antelope is still a great place to spend a few hours.

Wonderful images everyone! Great B&W Josh! And Bill, some sweet color in your "Trapped in Lower Antelope"!

Here's one from last fall, and up at Twin Lakes. La Plata Peak framed by some great aspen. As usual the posts here are excellent.
Posted by Pam Colander on May 15, 2009 at 12:54 AM
All sooo good. Love your double frame Morris. I don't know the name of this peak but it's on the way up to Monarch Pass. Mine trestle provides the framing.

Well i posted this on ESS a while back, but i just noticed this month's theme and i think this is a good fit, from SIamese Twins at GOG.

What an awesome collection of images this month, hard to compete with these, but I'll add one nonetheless. An older GOG one.
