Collared Lizard
These are becoming rare in Arkansas because people take them from their habitats and sell them in pet stores.

I've never seen one of these before

This is a nice shot, Aaron. I like the low perspective. I find these lizards to be fascinating subjects. I have seen quite a few of them here in the Palo Duro Canyon. The ones that I have seen here are typically a blue / turquoise color. They seem to like posing for the camera. I photographed one lizard for about an hour one night. It's a shame they are being sold in pet stores, though.

Neat shot, Aaron - I've never seen one either. Beautiful coloration!

Very nice image of a beautiful lizard. They love to sun on granite outcrops. I first encountered them in the Wichita Mountains in SW Oklahoma. They have been designated as the official state lizard in Oklahoma. Thanks for reminding us that these lovely creatures are still out there.

Great detail and colors in the image Aaron. Did you use your 300mm for this one?

Yes, the 300mm Canon was used here.

Thanks for sharing this shot of a collared lizard. I truly expected we would run across several during our hikes in Arches & Canyonlands NP's but we never saw a single one. Funny, I get back home and here it is!
