Found a spot
Saw a great hillside with a LOT of potential while driving around last night. I pulled into the driveway of the house in front of this area and asked the owner for permission to hike up in the back hills, going through his property first. The guy was very excited that I actually asked, that he gave me some good pointers on good areas to look for. He actually takes lupine seeds and distributes them around every year and let me tell you...these groupings are amazing!

Of course, it was VERY windy last night, but I managed to snag a couple that I'm good with. This particular image had a real nice variety of flowers covering the hillside. I think I'm gonna have to take one more visit out here before they all go away to try a decent sunrise.

Yep, some serious flowers out there! One of the better blue/yellow combos I've seen.

Wow, what a blanket! That's awesome that he was so cooperative, and I applaud you for talking with him (as apposed to just jumping the fence). Speaking of fences, I'd be tempted to clone that one out; it distracts a little.

An amazing display of flowers but something seems weird about this image. The BG & sky almost seem "photoshopped" into the comp. The FG light just doesn't seem natural to me. Maybe its a cloud rolling through the area? (I'm comparing against the darker ridgeline)

You were out here and you didn't call me?

Good find, Rick. It really pays to make the extra effort and talk to the owners. He'll probably gladly have you back for years to come. Hopefully your sunrise pans out.

Wow, Rick. That is a really nice field. Now, go back & get some really nice light to go with it!

Wow, Rick! Way to get out there and search for the treasure. I'd say you found it. AND for your courtesy to the landowner, hat's off to you, man. Be sure to show us that sunrise shot; hope you get the light.

You folks seem to have more floral opulence on your side of the mountains, or maybe I'm just not good at finding the right spots. There certainly have been some impressive posts lately, including this one! Rick, the bright left side of the cloud looks slightly blown to me.

Thanks for the comments! As for the sky...there were thicker clouds behind me with openings when the sunlight popped through. Mark... if it counts... I thought about you, and thought of calling...but I was on a short timeline and just needed to get out and shoot. You will be hearing from me in the next couple of days because I will need about 4 to 5 big prints by next week-ish...

I figured as much,

I have paper and ink at the ready! I'm a little busy tomorrow (Friday, May 8th) but after 4 most days I'm free.

Nice shot, BTW.
