Desert Run
I took Monday and Tuesday of last week to spend in Moab and the Canyonlands area. It was great to get away and enjoy some solitude. I've processed most of my photos and put a number of them online. If you are interested you can find them at this link: http://imagesofrmnp.com/gallery.php?gallery=moabspring09

Very nice. You have some beautiful images from your outing.

So where's all the snow? I figured you got a weather report that mentioned copious amounts of the white stuff to fall in the Moab area and that's why you went!

Seriously, great stuff, really enjoyed the pics. That pano of Deadhorse looks like it should look awesome in a large print.

Eric,

Really Excellent stuff! I especially love all the Deadhorse SP shots. I just love that place. I agree with you about it being better than the Grand Canyon. I also really love your Fisher Towers shot!

It doesn't surprise me anymore when you come away with so many amazing images when you go on a trip. Really some very unique comps, great color, and varied and eminently interesting subjects.

Looks like a nice trip Erik. I especially like "Jurassic V" of the Fisher Towers. Wonderful light, comp and clouds.

Love the layered blues of Deadhorse. Clean, simple and can feel the depth.

Fisher towers with the La Sals is also really nice. The square crop is interesting and I feel pulled left in the image and stay focused on the towers. I am not certain if I like it 100%, but it is difficult for me to suggest a better crop with what I recall the region looks like. The red rocks playing against the blues and greens works well.

Really like the Fisher Towers image. Nice work.

Wow, some nice shots, Erik! Looks like you followed the Tony L advice for when to shoot in the desert, but there are also some killer golden hour shots as well. I love the Green River Pano, sweet, and "The Straight and Crooked" - very novel, original and well executed. :toast:

Nice work, Erik, looks like a productive trip! I really like your Mesa Run shot, isn't that a cool spot there? It's a little hidden, but definitely worth the extra effort! Also digging your Fisher Towers Square shot, that's always a tricky one!

Are you open every day now? Thinking of coming up this week and wanted to stop in.

Beautiful work, Erik! I like them all, but the rock textures are my favs. Is there an Images of Arches/Canyonlands NP Gallery opening soon?

Awesome collection. The Green River Pano is spectacular. I really love the depth and layers of "Deadhorse Butte" Makes me want to jump in the 4runner and head to Moab right now.

I feel privileged to have seen these before you posted them. Great stuff, Erik. This is wonderful inspiration for my upcoming trip.

The layering in Hidden Waves is excellent. I think a little bump in contrast at the mid tones to sandstone stories would really make that pop. I like the fisher towers square shot too.

Thanks for all the comments it was a fun trip and apart from the morning at Mesa Arch (see text on the Mesa Run image) I had the area to myself. Thanks as well for the comments on how I might improve the images. I'll probably take some of the input and apply it once I get a chance.

Chris, this week I should be open every day except for today. Construction has begun on my gallery and I'll be closed all of next week so that they can move the door and replace the carpet.

As long as I'm writing, remember to sign up for my artist page on Facebook and help me put Grant in his place. :biggrin:http://www.facebook.com/pages/Erik-Stensland/46434417221

"Deadhorse Sunrise" and "Fisher Square" are my favorites, but they are truly all fantastic, especially the panos. Excellent job, Erik. Hopefully you had some time for some r&r on your trip.
