Vets Falls

Over the years I've taken thousands of pictures around the various falls at Veterans Park near Crivitz WI. I wanted to try a little different comp here, not sure if it worked.

What do you think?

Canon 50d
Sigma 17-70
ISO 100
Tripod/release

I like the composition here Kevin. The cedar tree really frames the comp well and you used the riverbank to lead the viewer into the scene. A minor nit would be to put a little more light on the FG tree, either by an HDR merge or with a little fill flash. The colors are very nice as well. Nicely done!

Very nice Kevin. I agree that the tree really helps frame the falls and image as a whole. I think this image works well and the only thing I might do is tone down the space to the right of the tree and slightly dodge the tree itself. Its whatever looks right to you in the end though that matters. Nice shot

I too like it, and agree with Brian and Anthony concerning lighting. I'm not familiar with the area, but perhaps a lower angle and less of the pool might create an interesting image. You probably took that shot only "hundreds" ago. Nice job.

I like the overall feeling that you captured & how the tree frames the falls. IMO the image would work a little better from a slightly lower perspective and with a little less room to the right of the tree.

Thanks for the tips guys, looking at this more I agree a slightly lower perspective would be nice. Good thing is our cabin is very close to this area and I can easily make another trip...

Thanks again.

Kevin, The cedar framing the image and the falls is the highlight of this image for me. I do not know about the open area of water in the LLHC. Lower perspective would have been nice as the branches hanging down from the cedar are crowding the falls. Were you wading in the water, if not, then get in! :wavey: :toast:

I may be the the only one, but I like this essentially exactly as presented, Kevin. I'm sure you could drag a bit more detail out of the shadows, but I think that the dark areas actually help spotlight the bright white of the waterfall.
