While the overall number of images posted in the Fauna Gallery this past week was down slightly, there were still a enough high-quality and very interesting images to make my job of choosing the Pick of the Week difficult.
Honourable mentions go to Luca Mussato for his calm, peaceful image of a pair of lions overlooking their domain (appropriately titled "Saw Anything?"), James Campbell for his almost abstract "living arch" of giraffes entitled "Loving Giraffe", and Lindsay Lough for her very beautiful composition of Amazonian butterflies (fittingly titled "Butterfly Congregation").
But the image that I thought demanded the most attention this past week was James Campbell's "Black and Gold" - an animalscape featuring a giraffe as it's main subject but dominated by spectacular warm lighting and golden hues. This image combined a strong composition with great light and is a real eye-catcher!
Congratulations James on capturing the Pick of the Week! And thanks to all who posted in the Fauna Gallery last week.
