So sorry I haven't been around much recently, we've been so busy at work etc, hardly any photography going on. Still, off on hol soon, so hopefully lots of photography to come!
Not sure how this one is going to turn out. The baby blackbirds have only just fledged, but are now starting to follow their parents around the lawn. Mr blackbird made sure they didn't come too close to me, and he is working very hard to feed them.
This was taken at the weekend, laying flat on the ground resting on a rolled up blanket as my beanbag is out of action due to lack of beans. The light was pretty dull, and despite shooting at 200ISO, I've had to do a lot of noise reduction. I'd really appreciate your comments on how this can be improved! Hopefully I'll get a few more chances with them.
Techs: D200, 500mm lens.
1/125sec @f8. 200ISO. -1 exp comp (as it had been very sunny before... )
Is it that time of year already!!! A bit contrasty on my screen but it does need calibrating. Think I'd try to crop some off the bottom, the highlights on the dew catch your eyes. Excellent POV though.
Nice image! Agree about the contrast, the top half looks a little dark. Would possibly loose the darker green off the bottom. Is that grass at the head? I think it may be the remnants of the chicks down, they always seem to have two little horns left when they fledge
Thanks all for your comments, much appreciated! Yes, I see it is contrasty now, I was looking at it so much I didn't see it! Yes Lewis, you're right, it is a bit of fluffy feather on his head. Couldn't decide whether to get rid of it or not!

Thanks for looking!
Hi Dawn,
Nice image! Agree about the contrast, the top half looks a little dark. Would possibly loose the darker green off the bottom. Is that grass at the head? I think it may be the remnants of the chicks down, they always seem to have two little horns left when they fledge
Cheers,
Lewis.
Thanks again!
Minor nits covered.
