Bit of a record shot but does show of this delicate little gull's "giz" reasonaby well (ie long neck, slender build)and its delicate pink breeding plumage. The El Pinet reserve is a series of saltpan lagoons one of which is surrounded by a bank of vegetation and tended to stay mirror like, unfortunately the avocet and SBG didn't frequent that lagoon but preferred the more open lagoons that were always had choppy water. Another bird that would get the British twitchers slavoring at the mouth having a fairly restricted distribution in the Med.
What a strange looking bird! Interesting info too. Pretty good for a record shot! Looks a tiny bit flat on my screen - could be my uncalibrated screen though. Nicely caught mid call too.

I've just reprofiled my laptop screen and seem to have overdone the gamma brightness, this looks much darker on my screen at work
Never seen one of these so thanks for posting it.
Nice shot Mike and a new species for me as well.
