We had almost left Elmley on Monday, when we came across a pair of red-legged partridges in the grass. They would vanish for a few minutes, then reappear in areas where it was shorter. I should probably clone out that out of focus bit of grass at the base of the bird's neck, but somehow I like this shot just the way it is.

Grass doesn't deter from the image. Nice one. I always find these birds really difficult to photograph - they seem to have a sixth sense where I'm concerned!
Nothing wrong with a bird in its habitat. We get a bit side tracked with studio style clean shots at times. Nature in its environment should be what its all about.
I agree with Mikes comment re nature in it's environment. A very nice image of a difficult to get species, good job you hung on for those extra few minutes!
Wouldn't have even noticed the grass if you hadn't mentioned it, its a well composed image, i like it a lot and it's a bird I would like to get myself.

The angle you have chosen is very good and allows you to have the OOF grasses in the foreground.
