I haven't had a chance to download and process photos yet, but I was up on Dalles Mountain Road this morning and it's very nice. Balsamroot are just starting to fade but lupine are perhaps at peak or a little before. There are at least a couple of areas with good solid coverage, some in the state park and some over the fence on private property as you drive up.

I'm going to try for Catherine Creek in the morning and then maybe wander over to Rowena later in the day or Friday morning. If anyone else is out that way, stop and say Hi if you see a silver GMC Safari and/or a guy with a yellow backpack.

I should be out at Rowena in the morning Greg. The conditions were a bit windy this evening, but I'm aiming for a great sunrise in the a.m. - Blue Toyota Matrix.

With the recent moisture, it will be interesting to see if the flowers do well up at the pass of DMR. The first time I drove that road (2004?) the flowers were awesome, and there are such good views of Hood and Adams from there.

John: I drove to the top of Dallas Mountain Road (junction with O'Brien Rd), but not much happening up there flower-wise. Taking the road up to the gate at the Columbia Hills Natural Area Preserve, there's quite a bit of balsamroot up there, but not much else yet as far as lots of color. Some of the slopes just east of the old ranch buildings are great for lupine and the balsamroot are fine for additional color but show signs of fading on close inspection.

Here’s one from a couple of days ago at the lower part of Dalles Mountain Road. Weather forecast was for sun and wind, so I scouted the night before and shot early in the morning before the sun came over the ridge. Not long after this was taken, the wind picked up and seemed almost constant for two days while I worked other locations in the area. Also had the pleasure of meeting and shooting with David Cobb at Catherine Creek and Tom McCall.
