Hey Guys,

Michael Frye's Blog shows the current conditions. It looks really good right now. Plus waterfalls should be flowing nicely as well:

Also Glacier Point is open. It looks like every road has been plowed except for Tioga Pass.

I am leaving this Saturday for our family camp trip. We'll be there all next week in housekeeping camp. Anyone else going? If so maybe we will bump into each other. That is how I 'met' Lon this Winter at Tunnel View.

Derek,

Thanks for the link and report. I actually met Michael Frye on Saturday near Cook's meadow. He was leading a workshop so we didn't chat much.

I was there with Harley and Jason Fri-Sun this past weekend. We also met up with Chris C on Sunday. I think he was going to be there thru yesterday. I'd say it rained about 70% of the time we were there. It made for some nice conditions with the fog/mist in the valley so we made about 4 trips up to Tunnel View and stood in the rain, AGAIN.

The dogwoods were not quite at peak and I agree that they should be peaking NOW. There is more water cascading off the valley walls than I have seen in many years. The water last weekend peaked about 2ft or so below the bottom of Swinging bridge. Of course with several days on sunshine now and now rain, the water won't be as high.

Infinite number of photographic possibilities right now. If you have the chance, go. I wish I could go again this weekend, but alas, it's Mother's Day...

Cool Lon,

That water flow sounds awesome! Man, you guys had some great conditions it sounds like with the fog/clouds. I am really hoping for some of that as well. Although forecasts are predicting warmer weather. Either way it will be a beautiful time in the Valley!

I look forward to seeing some of your images once you get them back. Did you shoot all 4x5s?

Should be great this weekend. I am with Lon. Mom would be a little miffed if I headed back.

We all shot 4x5 and Jason and I shot a little digital. Mostly 4x5.

I wish Glacier Point was open when we were there. It would have given us a change of scenery while we got rained on

Water 2' below Swinging Bridge? Wow... the waterfalls must be going nuts.

Yeah, gotta love all that water!

I wonder if that means Mirror Lake has actually filled in as well.

Harley and I took a little trip up to Mirror Lake last monday and yes, it was quite full.

Just returned from a Sat/Sun trip to the Valley...the dogwoods are at peak, along with the waterfalls and the Merced. Stunning! Don't delay if you're thinking about catching them this season. The crowds were very light too.
