Does anyone, preferably in Scotland, have this head either as a second that they you would be willing to lend to me or spare that they would like to sell?
Ian,
I have one but it is in constant use as my main head when I am doing nature photography with my 500 f4 lens. However, I would say it's bit over-engineered and heavy for the 100-400 L IS, even at full extension. My 300 f4 is a bit "over-awed" by it and I usually end up monopodding or hand-holding the 300 for faster-moving flight shots. How long would you want to borrow the head? I'd be willing to come up to Angus and let you try it out, but I won't be selling it.
I am heading out to the western isles for a few days so am hiring a 500 f4 which is a bit much for my normal head, but it will cope. The hire company I used does hire this head but all are out.
I will be away from Tuesday to Sunday.
If you are ever in the tayside area please drop me a PM as I would like take you up on your kind offer and have a look
Hello Ian
I could lend you a Wimberely head for that time if you like.
I live on the Isle of Bute. I seem to be so busy printing and running the workshop/shop that I hardly get time to use any of my gear these days
Best wishes
