Rain over the Big Y
The morning following my last post, I hiked past that flowery slope in the morning up to an observation point. While the pink AM colors came and went, I cursed myself for not getting up earlier. Standing in the sleet and wind, I was about to pack it in when this break in the clouds opened up above the "Big Y", locals name for the intersection of two highways a few miles below Leavenworth. Highlighted down there you can see pear orchards, mostly finished blooming, and a few apples, just beginning.

Sony R1, two exposures, dodging and burning, and Marc's glow technique.

Nice catch, Marc. The way the light is glowing through the rain/fog and falling on the valley is really spectacular. Although I like the sun burning through the clouds, it forces you to include a lot of dead space in the top of the photo. I think a pano crop to just below the sun would strengthen the composition and keep your eyes away from the somewhat bland gray upper corners.

What a view, a great, well composed shot. I love the atmosphere in this shot and the light shining on the valley below. The only suggestion I have is there is a weird aqua blue color in the shadow areas of the foreground hill in the lower left. I think a color balance adjustment in that area to make it look more natural would help.
