 I'm headed back to Yellowstone next week from Tue afternoon through Fri morning. Hopefully the weather and wildlife will cooperate as it did a couple of weeks ago. If anyone will be around it'd fun to meet up with you.

I won't be up there quite yet, but hoping you'll bring back some nice shots. Post what you capture. Good luck!

Hi Steve,

Still waiting around for that Grandchild to be born. Wouldn't you know she's being stubborn and right during prime bear season.

Hi Steve,
I'm thinking of driving to Yellowstone on Wed, probably arriving Thur AM for 3-4 days. I've got an email out to a friend there and if he responds positively I'll be there. How's the snow conditions?

Kurt, did you mean the E entrance from Cody? I don't know if the road from WY is open yet and I know the Beartooth Pass isn't. I should be near the Lamar Fri morning as well. Look for a silver Saabaru 92X with MT plates.

Don, I'll be around somewhere. I'm staying in Gardiner. I'm going to try and get to as much of the area that's now open. I usually have lunch at the Geyser Grill at Old Faithful.

There is a den of wolves now just E of Mammoth on the N side of the road although there's an exclusion zone W of the Yellowstone River bridge.

There are some wildlife I haven't seen yet, like a moose, that I'd like to get a shot of.

Hope to see you. :wavey:

Steve,
Just got off the phone with a friend from Idaho. He said the Grizzly is still hanging around Roaring Mountain. Also a Griz and cub have come into the Mammoth area. They saw one around the Marina at Fishing Bridge. The wolves have been seen daily around Mammoth. Have a great trip looks like a lot of activiy.

Thanks Don, I'll be on the lookout. Now if I can just remember to charge the batteries, use the blower to clean the sensor and lenses, get the proper exposure, zoom in for a good comp, and make sure the focus is sharp, I'll be in good shape.

My friend told me the area of the wolf densite has a total closure on it, which means no vehicles are allowed to stop, no one is allowed to walk along the road to take photos, etc. So one would have to hope the wolves move to the edges of the closure in order to get a decent photo. He also said opportunities aren't the best at the moment. Once the pups get bigger and more active though things could change. I'm still thinking I might give it a try since grizzlies are a possibility in other spots. If I go, I'll be in a silver 2003 4Runner with a Yakima rack on top. Blue/white Colorado "wildlife" plates 406-FGR. I'll also have a short green kayak either on top or inside since I'll be kayaking in Colorado on the way home.
I'll be camping in the back of the 4Runner, and I usually don't stop for lunch, but rather carry food with me, (maybe some elk steaks.... )

Hi Don,
I bumped into you on that elk kill above norris, that was Sunday morning and the evening I went home and it was the tops out of my 3day mini excursion. Steve I think I did bump into you but can't recall where. I was shooting with my canon 1-400
Hopefully some of my wolf photos from that day and a few bear shots from sat will come out good. Other wise my eyes saw all I need to get back up there again. Thinkin Mid June before the crowds really get full, then ofcourse late sept for annual fall trip for colors.
