I met Rob Grahm at Monument Rocks yesterday evening to shoot in the full moon. Unfortunately, the clouds didn't cooperate over night but were great for about 15 minutes in the evening. We quickly fired off what we we could. This is a 5 shot panorama that I didn't really set up for properly for but I am still fairly happy with it.
Even if we didn't get any moonlight shots, it was worth the 4 hour drive out there just for the enjoyment of the area. Rob said the wind was howling all day but by evening was dead calm. If you stood still the only sound you could hear were the birds and coyotes.
Well worth your effort! A very striking image. I like the interplay of light and shadow, especially how the shadows are at right angles to the clouds.

I like the layers of the clouds, it makes it feel like most of the photo is in the sky.

I really like this shot Ken but the posting limitations doesn't do it justice. I would love to see this larger so I could enjoy how the clouds and shadows mirror each other. I like how you composed this stitch with the formations at right framing the distant Monument Rocks. Well done!
Wayne, I tried to post a larger version but I didn't see any option for that. This image was 1200 pixels wide and was accepted but still appears this size. Is that option not available any longer?

Hi Ken, thanks for posting the link to the larger version. As I suspected, just wonderful detail in the larger version. I believe that the 1200 pixel max is limited to the NPN main image forums and not available on the regional forums.
You captured the amazing light we had, Ken. Beautiful pano. I looked through your gallery of images, you did some fine work out there in the limited good light. It looks like you did some climbing :); the b/w is perfect for a gloomy morning, and brings out the clouds. Was the sunrise as great there as it looked in my rear view mirror? I was wishing I had time to turn around and stop. I cut my western Kansas visit short, coming home Sunday afternoon because of the gloomy, wet, cold, windy weather Morton County was having.
