I am heading up to RNMP on Monday morning to catch sunrise and some other shots. I wanted to find out what the current conditions are in the park around sprague, bear, dream. I am planning going to dream and wanted to know how much snow is still there and if you need snow shows. I doubt it but wanted to make sure. Is the lake clear at sprague?

Tim it is embarrassing to say, but I haven't been in the park in a couple of weeks. I've been too busy with a number of projects and haven't gotten out.

Last week when I was there they were talking about a 50" base at Bear Lake. I think Bear and Sprague are so well-traveled that you'd be able to make your way around with little problem, though. Have fun! Should be good with the moon setting and all.

I ended up at Dream on Friday when the original plan went bad due to high winds at the initial spot I was planning to visit. Large base at Bear Lake as Todd mentioned, trail is pretty well identified all the way up to the top. You could do it in just hiking boots but with the melt and wear on the trail it would be a liitle slick, I would recommend Yak Traks or snowshoes just for the extra traction. Dream is not frozen at the outlet and you need to be careful on other areas of the lake as it is starting to get think in spots. Don't know how much snow they got overnight at the park, but I just got back from camping in Golden Gate SP and we had a few inches of snow overnight.
